“Royalist.”—Hesse- (German Hessen-) Darmstadt, whither her Majesty the Queen of England is gone to reside for awhile, is a limited monarchical State south of Germany. The Grand Duke of Hesse-Darmstadt, who in 1862 married her Royal Highness Alice Maud Mary, second daughter of Queen Victoria, reigns there. The Grand Duchess Alice died in 1878, leaving five out of seven children ; the eldest now living is 21, and the youngest 14. We know of nothing remarkable about the climate of Hesse-Darmstadt; her Majesty is going, we suppose, for a change of air and away from the late scene of sorrow, and to see her grandchildren.
