The Kumara Times. Published Every Evening. THURSDAY, MARCH 13, 1884.

At the Supreme Court, Hokitika, yesterday, the evidence of a large number of witnesses for the Crown in the charge against the man Donohue for murder was taken. Most of them were crossexamined by Mr Guinness, the prisoner's counsel. So far from Donohue exhibiting any symptoms of insanity, the West Coast Times states that—" During the day the prisoner's demeanour was collected, and he took great interest in the proceedings, frequently advising with his counsel." The County Council met at 2 p.m. yesterday, and adjourned until Wednesday, the 19th, at the same hour. Captain Edwin wired yesterday evening, " bad weather is expected between north-west and south-west; glass rising within ten hours, and considerable sea." °
