MINERS ASSOCIATION.

The first meeting of the newly-elected Executive Committee of the Miners; Association took ph.ee at the Templars Hall, Dillmans, on Monday evening; present Mr George Voysey (VicePresident), and Messrs Morgan, Tait, Prazer, Nicholas, Tiny-, Crcber, Wafson, and F. Marshall (Secretary). It was resolved en the motion of Mr Voysey, seconded by Mv Tait. that the Secretary be instructed to communicate

with the Minister of Mines explaining to him that the miners were anxious to know what the Government proposed to do with regard to a reduction of the price of water, and if they intended to give effect to the improvements in connection with the sludge-channel, as suggested at the late inquiry concerning the same. It was also resolved, on the motion of Mr Morgan, seconded by Mr Crebar, that the Secretary be instructed to write to the various mining centres throughout New Zealand asking them to co-operate with this association in their endeavours to procure the abolition of the gold duty during the next session of Parliament. The Secretary was instructed to notify the members of the association that the second quarter's subscription was now due. Several accouuts were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
