[united press association.] Auckland, February 20. A gum-digger named J. Brown waß found dead in Maungawate Hotel, early in the morning. At the inquest the jury returned a verdict to the effect that the cause of death was sanguineous apoplexy, and added a rider that publicans finding intoxicated men in exposed places in their premises should see they were better cared for, as there have been several cases of sunstroke recently. Mr John Sheehan, M.H.R., is seriously indisposed. On Monday the symptoms were serious. Three doctors were summoned. The ailment is sapposed to be the premonitary stages of apoplexy.
