The Marchioness of Norraanby was taken seriously ill on Sunday, and remained unconscious for some time. She has since regained consciousness, but lies in a very precarious condition. (Received February 5, 5.10 p.m.) Sailed, this afternoon, the Union steamship Te Anau, for the Bluff. Arrived, this afternoon, the P. and 0. steamship Rosetta, with the inward Brindisi mails, dated London, December 28. Martini-Henri is favorite at 6 to 4 in the beeting on the Champion Stakes, to be run for at the V.R.C. Autumn Meeting on March 8. Commotion is at 3 to 1. (Received February 5, 10 p.m.) Sydney, February 5. At a public meeting which has been held here to consider the scheme of taxation, recently announced iu Parliament, resolutions have been adopted condemning the proposals of the Colonial Treasurer. Meetings with the same object are being held throughout the colony. Dry weather is now being generally experienced in this colony. Sailed, yesterday afternoon, the Ringarooma, for Auckland. (Received January 6, 11 a.m.) February 6. In the Legislative Assembly to-night, the Hon. Mr Wisdom tendered an apology for the part he bad taken in the disturbance which had occurred in the Chamber on the Ist insfc.; and, on the motion of the Premier, Mr Wisdom's apology was, after some debate, accepted by the House.
