Arrived, Tarawera, from West Coast Sounds with excursionists, all well. Marton, January 17. The barque Fusilier ran ashore at high tide yesterday at 12 o’clock noon, five miles from the mouth of the Turakina river towards Rangitikei river. The 13 hands and Captain Harkness were all saved. The owners are Shaw, Savill and Co., London. She has sustained no damage whatever, and there is a probability of getting her off. The insurance is not ascertained. THE WESLEYAN CONFERENCE. Wellington, January 18. The Wesleyan Conference was opened this evening in the W esleyan Church. The Rev. R. Bavin delivered the retiring address. The Rev. William Morley was elected. President, and the Rev. H. Bull Secretary by large majorities. Addresses were delivered by the Revs. A. Reid, Taylor, Kirk, Rishworth, Berry, and Oliver. In the first reading of appointments of Wesleyan ministers Rev. Abernethy is set down for Hokitika, and Rev. S. Lawry for Greymouth. The following percentages of increase during the past ten years were reported by the Secretary ;—Ministers, 91; Sunday scholars, 94; churches and other pi’eaching places, 65; attendants, 101.
