Owing to a pressure of local and other general intelligence our reports of the Resident Magistrate's and Warden's Courts yesterday are deferred till next issue. The Masonic ball and supper last night in celebration of the installation of the W.M. and annnual election of Officers of the Lazar Lodge, E. C., was a great success. About 90 ladies and gentlemen attended. A fuller notice will be given in our next issue. The annual meetings of householders for the election of School Committees in districts south of the Teremakau are now notified to be held on Monday, 28th inst. The places and hours of the day are given in the advertisement. The Education Board refused to proceed with the Board elections, but do not scruple to assume a function which, so far as the local elections are concerned, we hold they do not now possess. • Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church to-morrow morning, at 9 o'clock, by the Rev. J. J. O'Donnell (late of Waimate). The 11 o'clock Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Father Walshe, at which the Rev. Father O'Donnell will preach. The Rev. George Hay will conduct service at the Presbyterian Church to-mor-row. In the forenoon the subject of his discourse will be "The Great Commision ;" and in the evening the subject chosen is—" The Lord's Supper :isit a sacrament, or a sacrifice V The usual meeting of the Young Men's Mutual Improvement Society will be held on Monday next, 14th inst. All members are requested to attend, as there is business of importance to transact. "Truth" mentions that Mrs Langtry has abandoned her intention of visiting the colonies.
