KUMARA PROSPECTING ASSOCIATION.

* A meeting of the committee of the Kumara Prospecting Association was held on Thursday night last; present— Messrs Burger (in the chair), Rudkin, Ziegler, Mulvihill, and Hannan. The sub-committee appointed to make arrangements with Berdiner, Anderson and party, brought up their report as follows : “ That the prospectors bad commenced operations about 2£ miles north-west by west from Kumara, near the E B line, where some prospects were discovered about ten years ago. “ That an allowance of £2 be made for baling and cleaning the 40-feet shaft; and that an agreement be entered into with the prospectors to allow them Is fid per foot for sinking fresh shafts to a depth of 30 feet from the surface; from 30 to 40ft, 2s fid per foot; and at similar rates for driving and hauling up from shafts already sunk, or to be sunk.” The report was adopted. It was resolved that the brewers be written to for aid, Mr Pearn only, as yet, having subscribed. Messrs Burger and Zeigler, at the request of the Committee, volunteered to superintend the work of prospecting, and report from time to time on its progress. The Treasurer reported having received Lll 11s fid from the collector. The meeting was then adjourned till Monday, Juno 18, at 9 p.m.
