BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Borough Council postponed from Thursday last, was held in the Town Hall last evening ; present— Seddon) in the chair), Rudkin, Campbell Burger and Carey. The minuutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The consideration of the outward and inward correspondence it was resolved should be held over for the present. DRIVING CATTLE THROUGH THE STREETS. Cr. Seddon, by leave, moved—" That the necessary steps be taken to revoke bye-law No. 27, re driving cattle through the streets, with a view to amending the same. Also, that a letter be forwarded to the police, notifying them that during the time that must elapse before this can be done, it is the desire of the Council that no panalties be sought or action taken by them against persons who may infringe the bye-law." Cr. Campbell seconded the motion, and leave was granted. The motion was then formally put and carried. Cr. Seddon then also moved—" That a special meeting of the Council be held on Thursday, the 14th day of June, at the hour of nine o'clock in the evening, for the purpose of revoking bye-law No. 27, relating to driving cattle through the street; and after revocation, that the same be amended by inserting the hours for driving cattle through the streets as from 9.30 a.m., and from 1 to 3.30 p.m." The motion wa3 seconded by Cr. Burger, and carried. FINANCE. The Town Clerk then read the Finance Committee's Report, and accounts to the amount of £54 12s 9d were passed for payment. An account of Mr Monahan of £5 for extras was ordered to stand over. The meeting was then adjourned till Thursday next, at 8 p.m.
