Sir and Gentlemen— Herewith we beg to hand you half-yearly balance-sheet ending March 31st, 1883, and have much pleasure in certifying to its correctness, and also that the books and accounts presented to us by both Treasurer and Town Clerk. In our investigation of the books, there are two items winch are not accounted for, viz,, four entries of 10s each, entered for Cemetery fees, for which no cash appears as paid in to Treasurer. One entry of £1 also for Cemetery fee, for which no cash appears as paid in to Treasurer ; this entry is on lebrnary 2nd, 1883, and the four previous entiles are in October Ist, 2nd, and Nov. PUBLICANS’ LICENSES. THE Annual LICENSING MEETING for the District of HO- - will be held in the Court House, Greenstone, at noon, on MONDAY, the 4th JUNE, 1883. All Applications for Licenses, as authorised by the “ Licensing Act, 1881,” to be lodged with the undersigned not later than the 14th MAY next. J. M'ENNIS, Clerk of licensing Committee. Greenstone, May 1, 18S3. WESTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL. County Chairman’s Office, April 16th, 1883. UNDER the Counties Act Amendment Act, 1882, BY-LAWS have been made by the County Council for the Licensing of Public Vehicles, and Mr BICHARD BECK, of Kanieri, has been appointed INSPECTOR of said Vehicles. The following are the EEES to be paid for Licenses : For every four-wheeled vehicle drawn by two or more horses.—Annua] License, Ten Pounds (.£10); Halfyearly License, Six Pounds (£6). For every two-wheeled vehicle drawn by two or more horses.—Annual License, Seven Pounds Ten Shillings (£7 10s); Half-yearly LiFive Pounds (£5). For every wheeled vehicle drawn by one horse.—Annual License, Five Pounds (£5) ; Half-yearly License, Tb ree Pounds (£3). This BY-LAW will come into operation on the Ist MAY, 1883, on which date all LICENSES must be paid at the County Council Chambers, Hokitika.
