THIS ASSESSMENT BUSINESS.
[to the editor.] Sir—l think the correspondence on the above subject between two of our most valued townsmen has gone far enough for the readers of your journal. If any good could possibly come of your mistaken generosity in allowing two gentlemen to take up so large a portion of the Kumara Times, -well and good ;I, for one, fail to see. it. According to my idea it is a pure case of "claw me, claw thee." Mr Hannan is well known for his perspicuity in little matters of law; and I begin to think the " irrepressible" is rapidly getting like the gesticulating Frenchman who, when his hands were tied behind him, could not speak at all. For instance in the last letter (I presume to give as much work as possible to the compositors) the name of " Hannan" is taken in vain no less than a dozen times. I would therefore suggest that when either of these gentlemen give offence, or take an apology to or from each other, they kindly place it among the advertisements, carefully addressed " To all whom it may concern." Nemesis. Kumara, May 1, 1883.
