UNDER the Counties Act Amendment Act, 1882, BY-LAWS have been made by the County Council for the Licensing of Public Vehicles, and Mr RICHARD BECK, of Kanieri, has been appointed INSPECTOR of said Vehicles. The following are the FEES to be paid for Licenses : For every four-wheeled vehicle drawn by two or more horses.—Annual License, Ten Pounds (.£10) ; Halfyearly License, Six Pounds (£0). For every two-wheeled vehicle drawn by two or more horses. —Annual License, Seven Pounds Ten Shillings (£7 10s); Half-yearly License, Five Pounds (.£5). For every wheeled vehicle drawn by oue horse.—Annual License, Five Pounds (£5) ; Half-yearly License, Three Pounds (£3). This BY-LAW will eome into operation on the Ist MAY, 1883, on which date all LICENSES must be paid at the County Council Chambers, Hokitika. Persons plying for hire, or carrying goods and passengers, after the date named, without a License, will be proceeded against without further notiee. JOHN M'WHIRTER, County Chairman. Construction of Dray Road from Larrikins Road to Wood's Tramway. 2. Construction of two sections (1 mile each)" of road from Kumara to the Sea Beach. 3. Maintenance of Ferry on Big Waitahi River. Specifications and plans at the Council Council Chambers; also as follows : For No. 1 and No. 2 (on and after Thursday next) at Mr Seddon's, Kumara, and Mr M'Whirter's, Goldsborough. PETERS begs to inform the public of Kumara, Dillman's Town, and surrounding districts that he is now prepared to supply the above articles in any quantities, at Hokitika prices. Having made great improvements to the House and additions to Stabling, to the Dillman's Town Hotel, I am now in a position to ensure comfort and satisfaction to miners, and also to travellers and others proceeding to and from Christchurch by the new line of road through Dillman's.
