County Chairman's Office, April 16th, 1883. UNDER the Counties Act Amendment Act, 1882, BY-LAWS have been made by the County Council for the Licensing of Public Vehicles, and Mr RICHARD BECK, of Kanieri, has been appointed INSPECTOR of said Vehicles. The following are the FEES to be paid for Licenses : For every four-wheeled vehicle drawn by two or more horses.—Annual License, Ten Pounds (£10); Halfyearly License, Six Pounds (£6). For every two-wheeled vehicle drawn by two or more horses.—Annual License, Seven Pounds Ten Shillings (£7 10s); Half-yearly License, Five Pounds (£5). Fdr every wheeled vehicle drawn by one horse.—Annual License, Five Pounds (£5) ; Half-yearly License, Three-Pounds (£3). This BY-LAW will come into operation on the Ist MAY, 1883, on which date all LICENSES must be paid at the County Council Chambers, Hokitika. Persons plying for hire, or carrying goods and passengers, after the date named, without a License, will be proceeded against without farther notiee. JOHN M'WHIRTER, County Chairman.
