In the course of the trial of Daniel Curley, the second of the Phoenix Park prisoners, at Dublin yesterday, the informer Carey, while under examination, testified to the fact that twenty distinct plots had been formed for the assassination of Forster, late Chief Secretary for Ireland, The London newspapers, in their leading articles this morning, commenting upon the annexation of New Guinea by the Queensland Government, generally express doubt that the Imperial Government will approve of the action of the Colonial authorities. (Received April 18, 1.30 p.m.) Evening. H.R.S. Dragon, 6 guns, has been ordered to Madagascar for protection of British interests. News is to hand that a French warship has captured port Negro Loango on the West African Coast, after severe fighting with the natives. It is announced that the coronation of the Czar has been postponed for a fortnight, until the 10th June. * LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. COLONIAL BANK ROBBERY AT BRUNSWICK. AUSTRALIAN MUTUAL PROVIDENT SOCIETY. FURTHER ATTACKS AT EPPING FOREST, TASMANIA. (Received April 18, 0.55 a.m.) Melbourne, April 17. The Colonial Bank of Australasia, at Brunswick, two and a-half miles from the city, was robbed to-day of £6OO. The theft was committed during office hours. The manager was momentarily absent, and upon his return found the drawer had been unlocked and the money abstracted. It is believed that the thief is a youth, but he has not, up to the present time been arrested. (Received April 18, 1.30 p.m.) April 18.
Further particulars regarding the robbery at the Colonial Bank at Brunswick show that the sum of £715 was stolen, not £6OO as at first supposed. The manager of the bank has been suspended, pending an inquiry into the affair.
The Terawera, which left yesterday for Bluff, took on board at the Heads the English mails brought by the P. and O. steamer Rosetta.

The annual report of the Australian Mutual Provident Society for last yearshows that the new business was larger than that of any previous year, and comprised 6400 policies for assurances amounting to £2,280,000. The new premiums amounted to £92,500. The Accumulated Fund has been increased by £520,000, and now stands at £4,350,000. The total annual revenue is £885,000, The receipts from interest exceed the amounts paid for death claims by £68,000. The seventh quin-
quennial division of surplus will be made up to the end of the year, and hereafter the profit be divided annually. (Received April 17, 2.55 p.m.) Launceston, April 17. It is reported that a further attack has been made upon the settlers in the neighborhood of Epping Forest. The statements require confirmation. The details which have transpired during the trial of the youths Ogden and Davies, for the murders committed last week, fully confirm the statements regarding the atrocity with which the cold-blooded crimes were committed.
