Intelligence to hand from Tonquin states that hostilities have broken out between the French troops and the Annamites, and engagements have already been fought. Diplomatic relations between France and the Kingdom of Annam have been broken off, and the French Minister at Hue has left his post in consequence of the outbreak of war. The French, English, and other naval squadrons now stationed at Hong Kong are proceeding without delay to Tonquin. (Received April i 3, 1.50 p.m.) April 12.

The trial of the prisoner Brady was continued to-day at Dublin. The informers Carey and Farrell were under examination yesterday, and. repeated the evidence tbey gave at the Police Court. The Crown Prosecutor promised that corroborative evidence would shortly be adduced to prove the assassination of Lord Cavendish and Mr Burke by the prisoners. The Dublin National League have now received altogether .£SOOO from Australia. In a recent communication Mr Redmond reports that the alleged connection of the League with the Phoenix Park murders aud the recent news of dynamite conspiracies have seriously prejudiced his mission to the colonies. In the trial of Brady at Dublin today, the informers Carey and Farrell were cross-examined at length, but their previous evidence as to Brady's guilt was in no way shaken. The photograph of " No. 1 " was identified in Court to-day by Carey and Farrell.

Six men, Norman, Gallagher, Wilson, Dalton, Kirton, and Assburgh (who was recently arrested in London) were again brought up at the Bow street Police Court to-day and charged with being in unlawful possession of explosixes, and conspiring to commit outrages. Crown, Prosecutor Poland showed that the prisoners were connected with Whitehead's factory, recently seized at Birmingham. The case is still proceeding. LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. THE SUEZ MAIL.
