THE SLUDGE-CHANNEL MEETING AND PROPOSED NEW ROAD.
[to the editor.] Sir—" Sells " there always were and always will be; even such a gentleman as a county councillor can be sold—at perhaps less than his own valuation, to wit—after the sludge-channel meeting at Dillman's Town last Monday evening, the occasion was seized to envy
against the business people of that place for having sent a memorial respecting the Larrikins road. The worthy councillor then incited his hearers to the high pitch of belief that a recantation had been sent to the Council which would enable this Goliah to bring a dray road to the side door of his premises. The people of Dill man's Town have not yet been on their bended knees on the hassock of recantation, nor changed their faith as to the impolicy of a-dray road to Seddon street. The brain of this homo genius must surely be very fertile or somewhat disturbed.— I am, &c, Looker-on. Dunedin Flat, March 14.
