QUEEN OF BEAUTY.
Queen of Beauty ! Shade of Heaven ! Fair, bright sparkling satellite ! Tell now where thy rays are driven — Where emit thy shades of light That did banish care and sadness, Every void and trembling fear, Whilst thou would, as if in gladness, Dark thy rays from sphere to sphere ? Queen of Beauty. Queen of Beauty ! Shade of Heaven ! Ethereal ornament of grace ! Being divine ! what bliss was given Those who once beheld thy face ! Mortals, sons of men, did ever Worship thee, all too well know ; Whilst from thine eyes love’s deadly quiver Laid thy victims very low, Queen of Beauty. Queen' of Beauty ! Shade of Heaven ! Being of a celestial light, What fond hearts are rudely riven Since thou vanish’d from our sight, But though dark clouds mar the vision And we now see thee no more ’Tis only for a little season Soon thou’lt shine on as before, Queen of Beauty. Hospur.
