WESTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Council met on Wednesday at 2.30 p.m.; present—The Chairman, Messrs Gumming, Jack, Eose, Hirter, Dnngan, Grimmond, and M'Goldrick. Thd following report of business in connection with this district is extracted from the West Coast Times : CORRESPONDENCE. Telegram from the District Engineer, fearing that other accounts may have crept into the account for the Teremakau bridge, and asking for a statement; also remarking that the cost should not exceed £3OO. Deceived.—Mr Dungan said the work cost £4OO, and Mr Martin understood that very well. The Chairman was requested to deal with the matter, in such a way as to uphold the respect of the Council. [Mr Seddon took his seat at this stage of the proceedings.] TENDERS. Several tenders for various works were opened and dealt with.

Mr Seddon moved, “That tenders be invited by next meeting, for construction of a road from DillmansTown- Christchurch road to Special Settlement, Tereroakau river, on Mi Kerr’s plans and specifications now on the table.” _ . After some discussion, it was resolved to call for tenders for the work at the May meeting. larrikin’s track. Mr Dungan moved, “ That Mr Kerr report on and blaze a track from Larrikin’s to Loop Line road. That the line of track branch from the Dillman’s Town road deviation, and = terminate near the site of No. 2 Kapitea Dam, Loop Line road.” The proposed line would open up a fine block of country. Kumara still retained a large mining population, and this country was most likely payable. The Chairman seconded. After some discussion, the resolution was agreed to. LIVERPOOL bill’s TRACK, Mr Seddon moved, “ That Mr Kerr be authorised to report as to the construction of track from Liverpool Bill s track to the new rush at the terrace at head of Liverpool Bill’s, and Hatter’s terraces.” —Carried. CHESTERFIELD TRACK. Mr Dungan moved, “That the Chairman be authorised to have the necessary repairs carried out on Chesterfield track, leading from Sandy Stuart’s hill to the sea beach.”—Carried. MIGNONETTE ROAD. By leave Mr Seddon withdrew the motion, “ That tenders be called for the construction of a dray road from Larrikin’s road, via Mignonette Flat, as far as Wood’s tramway, as per plans and specifications, tenth of proposed new road f mile. This road being required so that miners may bring timber and material to their claims and to facilitate settlement.”
