The Times, in its issue this morning, announces the death of Cardinal MacCabe, Archbishop of Dublin. (Received February 15, 1.4 p.m.) The report contained in the Times this morning regarding the death of Archbishop MacCabe, is authoritatively denied. Prince Jerome Bonaparte has left here for Paris. (Received February 15, 0.50 a.m.) New York, February 13. Accounts of continued floods are again to hand from numerous places in the northern and central States. At Cincinnati, Ohio, a flood has undermined the ,railway station and it fell heavily to day, submerging fully one hundred persons. At Louisville, Kentucky, owing to the bursting of a dam, thirty persons have been drowned, and a thousand rendered homeless. An immense amount of property has been destroyed recently by the heavy rain and floods. Berlin, February 13. The death is announced of Richard Wagner, musician and poet, aged 70. Paris, February 13. Michael O’Connor, D.D., Roman Catholic Bishop of Ballarat. (Received February 15, 1.45 p.m.) February 15, The police last night effected the arrest of George Clarke, of Clyde, Otago, on a charge of embezzling the sum of £4BO. The accused was clerk of ’ Vincent County Council, N.Z. He is now delayed in custody pending the arrival of a warrat from New Zealand. The labourers and drivers in the coal trade struck on Monday, and it is now feared that the strike will extend to the lumpers and others. They demand that the eight hours’ system shall be adopted. The masters refuse to agree to the demand of the men, and threaten to lay up the vessels engaged in the coal trade.
