KUMARA STATE SCHOOL.

At the meeting of the Local School Committee on Monday evening last, Mr Smith’s (the Inspector’s) Examination Schedules, showing the results of the examination of the various classes in the Kumara State School were produced. The schedules show a very high state of proficiency in each s tan dat'd ; and, out of a total of 132 children presented for examination, only eight failed to obtain the required number of marks to pass. This will no doubt prove exceedingly gratifying to the parents who send their children to this school, and not less pleasing must the results be to the head master, Mr Woodward, and the teachers who during the year are engaged in the tedious task of instruction.

The following table shows the number of boys and girls who passed and failed in each standard, together with

the number of those children who by reason of deficient attendance, the marks obtained by them are not taken

The average attendance of children at the school, including infants’ and primer classes, has been about 269. A committee of ladies was appointed to examine the work in the sewing classes, and the result was that the following were foremost in their standard ; YL, Lucy Galland ; V., Ada Ingall; IY., Amy Wylde; 111,, Rose Bell; TL, Ellen McLennan ; 1., Florence Gage.
