"J. T." —Borneo, though not so long as Madagascar, is the larger of the two islands. M." —The quickest passage of any boat from England to the colonies was made by the Orient Company's steamer Austral, which left Plymouth on the ' 20th Blay, last year, and arrived in in Hobson's Bay on the 26th June. This was her first voyage, and it was accomplished, as you will see, in 37

days. The Austral brought papers just a mouth old, but these were forwarded overland to meet her in the Mediterranean. The Liguria did the voyage in 40 days.
