WESTLAND RIFLE ASSOCIATION
SECOND ANNUAL PRIZE FIRING,
The second annual competition by members of the Westland Rifle Association took place at the Kumara rifle range on Monday last (New Year’s Day). The weather was fine and favourable.
The hast squad, in charge of Lieut. . Davies, commenced firing at 5.30 a.m. sharp. The second squad, under the charge of Captain Smith, of the Grey Rangers, commenced firing at 7.45 a.m. The following are the names of the prize-takers in the respective matches, together with the handicap, number of points, and the value of the prizes won. Kumara competitors took the three first prizes in the 200 and 500 yards matches, and Greymouth the two best in the 400 yards match.
