GREYMOUTH RACES.

The races on Saturday were very tanie. The weather opened threatening and deterred many, especially ladies. There were not more than 800 present. Omotumotu Handicap Marie Stuart, 1; The Field, 2. On Monday, owing to the beautiful weather, the second day’s xaces were more enjoyable. The Hurdle Handicap, two miles was won by Mr Brimble’s Whalebone, by three lengths ; Orient second. Levant bolted. The Hack Handicap, . lOsovs., 1J miles, was a gift to Harkaway. Grey Valley Stakes, 50sovs. ; If miles. TVou by Mu'Freeths The Field, by a length, Levant 2, Lady Harris 3, Marie Stewart 4.

Brunner Handicap, 25sovs., If miles. There were five entries, but only Marie Stuart and Dan O’Connell came to the scratch, and as Dan bolted as usual, Marie had a walk-over. In the Consolation Handicap, Levant carried off the prize, Dan O’Connell bolting, much to the disgust of everybody.
