CHILDREN'S PICNIC.
I [to the editor.] Silt—lfc is rather unusual to bear complaints against gentlemen who kindly give their services to collect for charitable or other purposes for neglecting their duty; but when such neglect is, in my estimation, bordering ou wilful, you will, I am sure, pardon me for asking his Worship the Mayor and the Eev. Mr Holland why ifc was that in canvassing the town to-day for donations, after calling on my neighbour Mr Mulvihill, they had their cart turned away and ignored your humble servant 1 Was it because of my being potitically opposed to Mr Barnett at the late election, and of my being again nominated, perhaps against his views ? If so, I think ifc comes with very hard grace from the Mayor, who ought, one would think, be now impartial, and bury the hatchet with the old year. Ifc could not be through my refusal on any former occasion that I was so beneficially slighted, as I do not recollect giving offence in that direction. -Yours, &e? 9 D. Hannan. Kumara, 30th Dec.
