AUSTRALIANS V. YORKSHIRE. London, June 20.
The ciicket match between the Australian team and an Eleven of Yorkshire was continued at Sheffield to-day. The weather during the day was fine, and the numher of spectators on the ground was again enormous. The Australians had lost four wickets for 94 ruus at the close of yesterday's play, and resumed their first innings, and were all disposed of for a total of 148, of which Murdoch, who was given out, 1.b.w., contributed 97. The bowling of the Englishmen was dead on the wicket, and their fielding excellent. The Home team in their second innii:gs succeeded in putting together 153, the highest scorers being G. Ulyett, 30 ; Lockwood, 22 ; and Emmeit, 25. The Australians then went in for their second innings, requiring 98 (sic) runs to win the match j and wheu stumps were drawn for the day they had scored 25 without the loss of a wicket. Note.—The scorer of the 38 in the tirst innings of the Yorkshire men whr made by G. Ulyett, not as previously stated by J. Phillips. —♦— — LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Sydney, June 20. Telegrams have been received here reporting that the barque Dirigo, 605 tons, wlroh left Sydney on May 7, with a cargo for Shanghai, has been wrecked near that port. In the action brought by Messrs Goolet and Smith against the Government, claiming £168,000 for-a land reserve in Darling harbor for railway works, a verdict has bpen returned for plaintiffs for £87,716 compensation. June 21. The Newcastle coal miners have unanimously rejected the proposals of Mr Gregson for the termination of the strike.
