NOTICE. Pure Volatile eucalyptus globulus extract. Under the dietinguished patronage of! his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General fov Italy, at Melbourne, upon inßtruotions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated Hth March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicne often try to soil the eucalyptus oil found in the trado instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious J but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly op* posed to one another, we consider it onr duty to direct the public attention to the following facta :- The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in oases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought oh by tho application of a medicament must in* crease iuflamination, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, spraing, «fec., the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper, an application of tho oil instead of our extract must impair: the diseased. The truth of: out assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to oommon turpenshillings one pound weight. Our ex* tract consists of the evaporating par tides of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its prioe being twenty-fonr shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, tho genuine article, is only made up in one half* ounce and one ounce vials; vials bear* ing on the labels our trade mark and signature* SANDER and SONS* Sole Manufac* turers of the Eucalyptus Extract. Sandhurst, November, 1878* DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand* The Extract of the Eucalyptus QV bulos, manufactured solely by Messrs Sander and Sons, Sandhurst, recommends itself by the following declaration and testimonials:— Epitome of declaration made before Morits Cohn, J.P.> on the 17th October, 1877, at Sandhurst!—" Three medical gentlemeu had attended the bou of Mr Raabe, of Ironbark, for nine weeks, and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary, At this junction Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sander and feons, pro* curing some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and, by the application of the same he had the satißfao tion of seeing his son withiu a fortnight out of all danger, and he has now quite recovered." Brief Extracts from tho Bendigo Evening News i Mr Gießchen, residing near Sydenham Gaidens, had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could got no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The Bame gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief* Cored after taking extract internally for six months. A man haying his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work; Mrs Wcppner, in Colbinabbin (Runnymede) informed the manufacturers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November, Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place in tho family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickcl suffered in the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of consider able size, disabling her from attending to any work. She removed tho swell ing completely by a continued applies* tion of the extract. The Donald Times, of Ist December, 1877, statest—Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache. The extract was applied, and the little fellow was cured and asleep in ten minutes. DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealaudi
