[to the editor.] Dear Sir—Through, the medium of yonr valuable pappr, I should feel obliged if you would allow me to return my sincere thanks to the inhabitants o£ Kumara and all the Waimea district, also Hokitika and Woodstock, for the most generous manner they have so hbeially contributed on my behalf since my late severe accident and consequent stay iu the above grand institution. To thoso subscribers and promoters of the subscription list I feel very grateful, and shall long keep in my heart's warmest corner their very welcome contribution.
