NOTICE; PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patronage oI his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communicatioff received from the Consul-General foi Italy, at Melbourne, upon instrno tiqns from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicne often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of oiif Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious j but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly op posed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature; and manifests a drawing, blistering effect Upon the shin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must in* crease inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains, &c., the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquea* tionably proved by former in this paper, ail application of the oil instead of our extract must impair* the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being abotit three shillings one pound weight. Our ex* tract consists of the evaporating par tides of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-fonr shillings for one pound weight; Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up iff one half* ounce and One ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature; SANDER and SONS, Sole Manufac* ttirers of the Eucalyptus Extract.
