y. R. BONUSES ON COLONIAL INDUSTRIES] Colonial Secretary’s Office, Wellington, Ist February, 1882. VTOTICE is hereby given that the following bonuses will be paid on articles produced in the Colony of New Zealand* as under:— SUGAR. A bonus of one thousand pounds (£1000) will be given for the production of the first 125 tons of sugar, manufactured in New Zealand, from beet or any other root oa plant grown in the ctilony, STARCH. A bonus of three hundred pohnds (£300) will be given on the first fifty tons of starch, manufactured in the colony, which shall be shipped to an English market, and fbr Which a satisfactory certificate shall be given by dealers or brokers in England that the starch is of good marketable ijuality, SILK. A bonus of fifty per cent, fin the value realised for the first thousand pounds’ (£1,005) Worth of c'o'coons of the silkworm* or silkworms’ eggs, produced in the colony, to be paid on quantities of not less vakte than fifty pounds (£SO) nor more than one hundred pounds (£100.) produced by any one person. SUGAR REPINING. A bonus of five hundred pounds (£500) will be given for three years in succession for the refining each year, by machinery established in New Zealand, of not less than 100 tons of cane sugar. The establishment by which Such refining is effected must be what is ordinarly known as a sugar-refiner v. The firm refining the first 100 tons of sugar, and receiving the bonds, shall be also entitled to the bonus of the two following years Upon fulfilling the conditions above named. OSTRICHES; A bonus of five pounds (£5) per head will be given for healthy ostrich chicks landed in New Zealand for the purpose of being reared and maintained in the colony j the number of any importation to be not less than tCn nor mote than fifty. BtTTTER OR CHEESE. A bonus of five hundred pounds (£soo)' will be given for the first 25 tons of butter or the first 50 tons of cheese produced in a forked on the American! principle, and to which factory any farmer, subject to certain conditions, may send his milk), which shall be exported from New Zealand, and sold at Such prices in a foreign market as shall show that the articles are of fair quality; Condition's; Notice of intention to claim any of the above bonuses mtist be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later that! the 30th June, 1882. The claim must be made before the 31st December, 1882. The other Conditions US to quantity, quality, and value to be fulfilled to the satisfaction of an officer appointed for the purpose by the Government. A bonus of one thousand pounds (£loooj will be given for the production, in New Zealand, of 300' tons of pig-irOOj of murketable quality, from ore produced in New Zealand; Condition^.’ 1. The bonus not to be given foe any quantity less than 100* tons. 2. Notice of the intention! t6‘ erect ironworks and claim the bonus toust be given to the Colonial Secretary before the 31st December, 1882. 3. The bonus must be claimed before the 31st December, 1883. 4. In the etent of more than one Claimant giving sUch notice, not more than seVen-tenths of the bonus may be Claimed by the first producer, and not more than three-tenths by the second producer; but if only one claimant becomes d producer on the above Conditions, he may claim the whole of the (Jwmus. The iron in respeCt of which any bonus is claimed, and the Ore from which it is manufactured, will be examined by an officer to be appointed by the Government,- who m‘ay require the production of bona fide account sales ef quantities not less than 100 tons weight, showing that such iron has been sold at a fair market price as pig-iron. 1 thomAs Dies.-
