NOTICE. PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS \ GLOBULUS. EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patronage o£ his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General foi Italy, at Melbourne, upon instrud tions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs; dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers ill medicne often try to sell the eucalyptus" oil found in the trade instead of onf Eucalyptus Extract. So far as tlie' committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious j but as the qualities of both of the proi ducts are in many cases directly op^ posed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts : The eucalyptus oil is recorded to bd of valiie as a medicament in cases ol rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin; Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must in* crease inflammation, and it is therefore' evident that in cases of wounds, colds,' bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains* &c, the curative power of. our extract on the named diseases beiiig unquestionably proved by former publications' in this paper, an application of the' oil instead of our extract intfst impair' the' diseased. The truth of our assertion ia founded npon the fact that the oil is a resiuous* product, equivalent to common turpen> tine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight; Our ex* tract consists of the evaporating par tides' of the gum leave's; soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-fonr shillings for one pound weight. Orir extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one half; ounce and one ounce vials; vials bear* ing on the labels .our trade mark and signature. SANDER and SONS, Sole Manufacturers of the Eucalyptus Extract. Sandhurst, November, 1878. DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand. The Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, manufactured solely by Messrs* Sander and Sons, Sandhurst,' recommends" itself by the following declaration and testimonials : Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Cohn, J.P., on the I7th October; 1877, at Sandhurst:—"Three medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr Raabe/ of Ironbark, for nine weeks, : and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an a:xe was absolutely' necessary; At this Junction Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sander and Sons, procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and, by the application of the same he had the satisfaction of seeing his son within a fortnight out of all danger, and he has now quite recovered." Brief Extracts from the Bend'go' Evening News: Mr Gieschen, residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medica?! skill proved ineffectual in giving reliefl Cared after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbin (Runnymede) informed the maniifac-" tu'rers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven: years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow!. In November, Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium! caused by sunstroke/ which took place' in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife, of M* Fickel suffered iri ! the bend of the knee from a swelling* which had formed a' lump of considerable size, disabling her from' attending to any work. She removed the swelling completely by a continued application, of the extract. The Donald Times, of Ipt 1877, states:—Last week' tne eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache. The extract was; applied,-aiid the little fellow was cured* and asleep' in ten minutes.' DUNCAN M'LEANy WkAjfesafe Agent for J?ew ZealaWV
