[to the editor.] *SIR —In a letter addressed to the local Hospital Committae by and signed by Dr. Porter and published in your issue of May t>rd, there appears a statement to the effect that Mr Toms is the only oualitied chemist in the town. As Dr. Porter has i-ersina'ly examined my certificates of qu ililication I am at a loss to understand lx >w he lias made such a misstatement, and can only abscribe it to a defective memory. However, as any such misstatement, if uncontradicted, is calculated to injure my busines I must beg to point out, that my name d dy appears in the list of qualified pharmaceutical chemists for the colony, as published by the Pharmaceutical Board of New Zealand.
