Notice: P'tlßE VOLATILE EtICALYPTU§ GLOBULtts EXTRACT Under the distinguished patronage bl his Majesty the Xing of Italyj aji Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General fojl Italy, at Melbourne, itpoii instrud tions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878; We are informed that dealers iii medicne often try to sell the eucalyptui oil found in the trade instead of out Eucalyptus Extract. - So far as the committing of imposition against thb public in such a case is concerned} the consequences would not be serious j but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opr posed to one another; we consider if our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect’ upon the skin. Any blistering brodglit on by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds; colds; bronchitis, diptheria, croixp; sprains; &C., the Curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper, an application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The troth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is si reSinoUS product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about threC shillings one pound weight. Our extract consists of the evaporating par tides of the gum leaves; soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-fonr shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made Up in one halfounce and one ounce vials; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature. DUNCAN M‘LEAN,' Wholesale Agent for New Zealand, The Extract of the Eucalyptus Glm bulns, manufactured solely by Messrs Sander and Sons, Sandhurst, reconfmends itself by the following declaration and testimonials Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Cohn, J.P,, on the 17th October; 1877, at Sandhurst“Three medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr 1 Ruabe, of Ironbark, for nine weeks; and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary. At this junction Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sander and Sons, procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and, by the application of the same he had the satisfaction of seeing his son within a fortnight out of all danger; and he has now quite recovered.” Brief Extracts from the Bendigo Evening News:— Mr Gieschen, residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a very severe cold iii" November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight, years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief, Cared after taking extract internally, for six naonths. A man having his arm bruised severely at a Crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbiil (Runnymede) informed the mamifac* turers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a coW. In November, Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman’s Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke; which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered id the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of consider-* able size, disabling her from attending to any work. She removed the swelling completely by a continued application of the extract. The Donald Times, of Ist December; 1877, states:—Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache.
