So far as the committing of imposition against tHb public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would hot be seribus j but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly dpposed to one another* we consider if our duty to direct the public attebtioh to the following facts The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value, as a medicament in casds of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing; blistering effect upon the skin; Any blistering brought oh b£ thd application of a niedicarhent must idcrease inflammation; and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds; colcfe* bronchitis, diptheria, Croup* sprains'; &c., the curative powef of our extract on the named diseases beiflg hnqUfestionably proved by former publications! in this piper, ah application of the oil instead of our extract rhust impaif the diseased. The truth or our assertion! is founded upon the fact that the oil is a reslnohd product, equivalent to commod turpentine, its market value being about threfl shillings one pound weight. Oaf tract consists of the evaporating pah tides of the gum leaves; soothing arid healing in its effects* its price being twenty-fonr shillings for one podnd weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one Half* ounce arid one ounce vials; vials bear* ing on the labels orir trade mark arid signature: SANDER arid SONS, Srilh Mariufad turers’ of the Eucalyptus Extract; Sandhurst; November; 1878. DUNCAN M‘LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand; The Extract of the Eucalyptus GlUhulas, manufactured solely by Messrs Sander and Sons, Sandhurst; reconimends itself by the following declaration and testimonials Epitome of declaration .made beforfl Moritz Cohn, J.P., on the 17th October* 1877, at Sandhurst:—“ Three medidal gentlemen had attended the son of Mr Raabe, of Ironbark, for nine weeks* and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary. At this junction Mr Baabe called on Messrs Sander and Sons; procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and, by the application of the same he had the satisfaction of seeing his son within a fortnight out of all danger, arid he has now quite recovered.”
Brief Extracts from, the Bendigo Evening News Mr Gieschen, residing near Sydeb* ham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered. eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief Cured after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm brulsfed severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the ac* cident did not even necessitate £ts tbhch as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbia (Runnymede) informed the mannfac* turers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November, Mrs Reeves, front the Rifleman’s Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered irt the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of consider* able size, disabling her from attending to any work. She removed the swell* ing completely by a continued applies* tion of the extract. The Donald Times, of Ist December, 1877, states i—Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache.
