So far as the committing of impdsition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious) but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opi posed to one another, we consider ih our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :~ The eucalyptus oil is recorded to bd of valiie as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effects Upon the skin; Any blistering brought oh by the" application of a medicament mast increase inflammation; and it is therefore evident that in eases bf wounds, coldsj bronbhitis, diptheriai croup, sprains; &c, the curative p'ower of oilr extract on the named diseases beiiig tionably proved by former publications" in this paper, aii application bf the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth or! biir assertion is founded njjon the fact that the oil is a. resinous product; equivalent to common turpeni tine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight. Our ex* tract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves; soothing and liealing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight; Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one halfr ounce and one ounce vials; vials bear; ing on the labels our trade mark and signature. SANDER and SONS, Sole Manufac; turers of the Eucalyptus Extract. Sandhurst, November} 1878. DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand; The Extract of the Eucalyptus Gib* bulds; manufactured, solely by Messrs Sauder and Sons, Sandhurst, recommends itself by the following declaration and testimonials:— Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Cohn, J. P.; on the 17th October, 1877, at Sandhurst :—" Three medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr Raabej of Ironbark, for nine weeks* and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary. At this junction Mr Raabe called oh Messrs Sander and Sons, procuring some of thfeir E.xtract of thb Eucalyptus Globulus, and, by the appli* cation of the same he had the satisfaction of seeing his son within a fortnight out of all danger, and he has now quite recovered." Brief Extracts from the Beridigo Evening News :•-* Mr Gieschen; residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, arid all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief. Cured after taking extract internally for six months* A man having his ai'm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the ac cident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppnerj in Colbinabbin (Runnymede) informed the manufacturers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years bf age; who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November, Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered in the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a iump of consider; able size, disabling her from attending to any work. She removed the swelling completely by a continued application of the extract. The Donald Times, of ist December, 1877, states:—Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache. The extract was applied, and the little fellow was cured and asleep in ten minutes. DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New &ealatid«
