NOTICE, >ure Volatile eucalyptus Globulus extract. Under the distinguished patronage of his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Corisul-General foi Italy, at Melbourne, upon instrnc" tions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed ttiat dealers id medicne often try to sell the eticalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. .So far as the committing of imposition against the public in Biich & case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious; but as the qualities o$ both of the products are in many cases directly op* posed to ohe another, we consider it our dnty td direct the public attention to the following facts : The eucalyptus oil is recorded to of valrie as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing} blistering effecb Upon the skin: Any blistering brought on by tnd application of a medicament must crease inflammation; and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, coldsj bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains; &c;, the curative power of our extract ou the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper, an application of the" oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The .truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight. Our ex* tract consists of the evaporating tides of the gum leaves) soothing and healing ,in its effects; its price being twenty->fonr shillings for one pound weight; Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up iri one halfc ounce and dne ounce vials ■ vials bearing oh the labels our trade mark .and signature.
