CRICKET MATCH.
GRBYMOUTH Y. KUMARA. A bricket match was played on Messrs Eeech and Malloy’s paddock Resulting (as was expected) In a victory for the visitors, the extent of which will be seen from the subjoined particulars. The Grey team arrived on the ground at 10.15 a.tn., and, having won the toss, went first to the Wickets, which they retained for about two and a-half hours, the top scorers being Perkins, with 21 runs, and Clements with 19, The former played a first-class game, and has a style that Inany young players would do well to fcopy, the golden rule of a straight bat being well developed iu him. Clements, also played a good game. The Kumara fielding was not particularly good, but this is not surprising considering some Hf thb playets have not played for two or three years. Rich and Marks did gbdd Service with the ball, the former securiilg 6 out of the ten wickets, the innings blosed for 90 runs. After lunch Kumara wCnt in and were all disposed bf tor 30 rnnsj Dyer making the highest out of remarkably small scores. This necessitated a follow-on, which resulted in 20 runs; The match came to an end at 3 o’clock, and, after the Usual cheers, the teams wended their way to town. The thanks of the club are due to Messrs J. White and R; Wylde for Scoring, and MesSrs Mansfield and Toms for acting as umpires, these father thankless duties being well carried out.
