The Kumara Times. Published Every Evening. THURSDAY, MARCH 30, 1882.

We are compelled to hold ovet Warden's Court report and several other items. In j our fourth page we repr'iilt the Kumara i miners' petition, in which were" embodied the terms and, conditions suggested by them for using the sludge-channeh I At the Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, before H. A. Stratford, Esq., I R.M., the following cases were disposed of :—W. Murphy v. W. Ryan, a claim for £2; There was no appearance on the part of the defendant, and judgment was given for the amount. —Murphy V. Kellar and Power, a claim for £4l4s. Kellar pleaded infancy, and judgment was given against Power for the auiount claimed. A sitting of the Assessment Court was held yesterday afternoon. Mr E. T. Robinson attended on behalf of the School Commissioners, and Mr Wylde for the Borough Council, but nothing of importance was transacted, except that a induction was made in the rating in Main and Seddon streets. The Alhanibra arrived in the Hokitika and Greymotith roadsteads yesterday morning from Melbourne via New Zealand ports, and after being tendered at both ftorts proceeded on her way to Melbourne. Of the Woodstock rush the West Coast Times to-day reports : —" It is our pleasing duty to chronicle the opening of another golden claim, and a marked improvement irt the prospects of a couple of others. Archie Leslie and party, whose claim is fully a quarter of a mile from the prospectors, bottomed on payable gold yesterday" afternoon. From four dishes they obtained ten grains of coarse gold. Blundell dSd party, whom we metioned in yesterday's report as having followed a thinish layer of wash, which had improved as they went along, washed 15 grains to four dishes yesterday, and one dishful taken out at five o'clock gafe as high as 8 grains. Webster and party, who were reported to have merely got the color, are now on payable gold, 'the discovery of gold in Leslie's claim, which is seven claims distant (from the prospectors', made great talk on the ground. The success of the rush is now beyond question. There are

eleven or twelve parties on payable gold already, and in the course of another week, at the rate claims are being bottomed, there will p.obably be a score of claims opened showing fair prospects."
