NOTICE, PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patronage of his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the ConsnUGeneral foi Italy, at Melbourne, upon instruc tions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878, We are informed that dealers in medicne often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not he serious; hut as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts ; The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin, u Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains, <&c., the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications fn this paper, an application of the pil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight. Our extract consists of the evaporating particles qf the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-fonr shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one halfounce and one ounce vials vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature.
