A GIGANTIC PLEASURE PARK.

New York city proposes to build itself & pleasure park larger than anything of the kind in the world; It ih to be ten iniles in length', extending north from the HaHetn River to above Hastings, ‘and will bb distant about 5000 feet from the Hudson River. Its average width is about 3000 feet. On each side of it will be twb immense avenues, each 150 feet wide. Of course the creation of so immense a pleasure park will be the work of time, but the natural adVantages of thb location proposed are Very great, as the scenery can be picturesque and diversified. The present ‘central park of New York contains less than a thoiisartd acres, of which folly one quarter is devoted to reservoir purposes J but the new proposed park infeludes 3500 acres of ground. The population of New York is advancing horthwards with rapid strides, and by 1900, if not before, the grounds adjoining this proposed park will be compactly, built up with dwellings. New York is no Ur a great city, but in time it will doubtless be more populous than Uny of the great capitals of the world.
