+ [NEW ZEALAND PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, March 3. The Hon. E. Richardson has definitely announced himself as a candidate for Stanmore. Wright and his wife were committed for trial on a charge of burning their house on the Lincoln road. Nothing has been heard of the Alpine tourists since they began the actual ascent of Mount Cook. The day after they started there was a severe snowstorm. Othei wise the weather has been favorable. Dunedin, March 2. The installation of Bro. Thomas Sherlock Graham as Grand Master of the Otago District and Southland took place this afternoon, at the Masonic Hall, in the presence of five hundred members of the craft. Bro. G. P. Pearce, of Wellington, Provincial Grand Master of New Zealand, Irish Constitution, was installing officer. The proceedings passed off with great eclat. Brother G. S. Graham, of Auckland, who was to have perfirmed the ceremony, was called away to Brisbane on Tuesday. Ashburton, March 3. At the Police Court to-day a boy eight years of age was charged with indecently assaulting two little girls of the same age. The Resident Magistrate sentenced him to a good birching and ordered him to be sent to the Buruham Industrial School for five years.
