The Government have decided to complete the defences at Port Phillip Heads without delay, and to re-establish permanent artillery corps, which were disbanded a short time back. The widow of Mr Steven, who died in August last from the effects of injuries received at the Jolimont railway accident, has been awarded .£3OOO compensation.
