notice; )UftE VOLATILE EtTCALf PTtM GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patronage of his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, 'according to communication received from the Coiisul-General fo.i Italy, at Melbourne, upon instrud. tions from the .Minister for Eoreigri Affairs; dated iith March, IS7S. We are informed that dealers in. medicne often try.to sell, oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. ,So far, as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the! consequences would . ndt be serious \ but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one we consider ii pur dnfy to direct the public; attention to the following facts :—..,.. . The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in. cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effecfi upon the s£ini . Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must crease inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds! coldsj brouchitisj diptheria, croup, sprainSJ &c., the curative power of our extract ou the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in, this paper, ah application of the oil instead of oilr extract must impair the diseased. . , The truth of our assertion is fotirided npon the fact that the oil is &. resinous 1 product, equivalent to common turpeu* tine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight. Our ex 1 * tract consists of the evaporating tides of the gum leaves,' soothing and Healing in its effects, its' price being twenty-fonr shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one half* ounce aiid one ounce vials; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature.'
