We are informed that dealers iii medicne often try to sell the oil found in the trade instead df our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the 1 committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would,. not be serious \ but as the qualities of both of the pro l ducts are in many cases directly opposed to brie another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention" to the following facts I—.The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be. of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of Secondary nature, and manifests a drawing; blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation; and it is therefore 1 evident that in cases of wounds, colds; bronchitis, dipthefia, croup, &c, the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications' in this paper, an" application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being abottt three shillings oiie pound weight. Oui' extract consists of the evaporating pari tides of the gam leaves; soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-fonr shillings for one pound weight. Brief Extracts from the tSendigo Evening News;— Mr Gieschen, residing near Syden* ham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no reliefs Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture* and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving Cored after taking extract internally' for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Gully, applied the extract, and the ac* cident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at works Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbiri (Runnymede) informed the turers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter* eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November,"Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cui'e of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered in the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of considerable size, disabling her from attending to any work* She removed the swell* ing completely by a continued applica* tion of the extract. : The Donald Times, of Ist December", 1877, states week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache.
