- BRITISH AND FOREIGN. London, January 20. The Irish Executive has decided that Parnell, O’Brien, and O’Kelly, Land Leaguers, shall be detained in custody for a further period of three mouths. At the expiration of that time they will be released. . January 21. A large meeting, attended by 2000 delegates of the Ulster farmers, was held to-day at Belfast, when resolutions were passed in favor of the extension of the liish Land Act, so as to provide for the appointment of a land commission for each county in Ireland, instead <>f for large districts only as at present. The meeting further resolved that the reductions in the rent which have been made by, the land couna up to the present time were totally inadequate in view of the circumstances of the Irish tenants. January 22. A meeting to be held at the Mansion House has been convened by the Lord Mayor for the purpose of raising funds to assist the persecuted Jews of Russia. St. Petersburg, January 22. The Journal de St. Petersbugh, in an article to-day, fiercely denounces the movement in Russia to raise subscriptions for the Russian Jews, and says that the agitation is founded upon the hatred of Englishmen, for Russia. LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Melbourne, January 24. Telegrams are to hand reporting that a large ship, name unknown, is ashore in Waratah Bay, on the southern coast of this colony. The vessel’s position is however, stated to be not dingerous. The first and second-class passengers per Garonne are to be released from quarantine to-day. Colonel Anderson, commandant of the Victorian Volunteers, is dead. SvdNev, January 2L The certificate of Captain M‘Lean, of the steamship Wotonga, has been suspended by the Marine Board for three mouths. The case of the mute will be decided by the Board to-day.
