We hre informed that dealers ii} medicne bften try.tb sell the eiicalyptus oil found. in the trade instead of out Eucalyptus Extract. . .So far .as thq committing, of. imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would■■ not be ; serious j but as the qualities of. bpth .of, the products are in many cases, directly opr posed to one another* we qonsider i|f our duty .to direct ,thfe public atteniioii to-the following facts ... , The eucalyptus oil is recorded to lip of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature; and manifests a drawings blistering effect upon, the skin; ■ Any .blistering .brought on by the application of a : medicament, must in* crease inflammation* and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds] bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains] &c., the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former in- this paper, ad ftpplicatiop. of the oil instead of our extract must impair the-diseased. .• . . 4 The .truth .of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpen* tine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight. At this junction Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sander and Sons, pro* caring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and; by the appli* cation of the Same h'e had the satisfaction of Seeing his son within a fortnight out of all danger, and he has now quite recovered.” Brief Extracts from the Bendigo Evening News;— Mr Gieschen, residing near Syden* ham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, Could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief; Cured after three applications of the extract. : The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief Cared after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the ac= cident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at worki Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbid (Runnymede) informed the tnanufac* turers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and'* trampled upon by a cow] In November, Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman’s Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered id the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of consider* able size, disabling her from attending to any work* She removed the swelling completely by a continued application of the extract. The Donald Times, of' Ist December, 1877, states:—Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying, with earache. .
