Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878: We.are informed that dealers in medicne often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of ouir Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public, in such a case is concerned, the consequences would • hot be serious • but as the qualities of both of the pro? ducts are in many cases directly opposed to one another, %ve consider i$ our duty to direct the public attention, to the following facts : • , The eucalyptus oil is recorded- to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin.; \ , Any blistering brbUght ori by the application of a medicament must in 7 creasb inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds) bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprainsi <fcc., the curative power of our extract ou the named diseases, being unquesr tionably proved by former publications in this paper, an application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. . . , The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpen-i tine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight. Our ex? tract consists of the evaporating par : tides of the gam leavesj soothing and, healing in its effects, its price being twenty-fonr shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up, in oue halfounce and one ounce vials; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and siguature. SANDER and SONS, Sole Manufotf turers of the Eucalyptus Extract. Sandhurst, November, iB7S. DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand. The Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, manufactured Holely by Messrs Sauder and Sons, Sandhurst, recommends itself by the following declaration and testimonials:— Epitome of declaration made before" Moritz Cohn, J. P.,' oii tlie 17th October; IS?7, at Sandhurst :—" Three medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr Raabej of Iron bark, for nine weeks, 1 and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely' necessary. At this junction Mr Raabd called on Messrs Sander and tons, procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and,- by the application of the same he had the satisfaction of seeing his son withiu a fortnight out of all and he has now quite recovered." Brief Extracts from the Bendigd Evening News: — Mr Gieschen, residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a very severe cold ill November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three* applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in" giving relief. Cared after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in. his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbiri (Runnymede) informed the manufaci turers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleveri years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November, Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium, caused by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered iri the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of consider-' able size, disabling her from attending to any work. She removed the swell- T ing completely by a continued applica-; tion of the extract. The Donald Time's, of Ist Decenibef, 1577, states:—Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache. The extract wad applied, and the little fellow was cured! and asleep in ten minutes, DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand
