CRICKET.
HOKITIKA V. GREYMOUTH. [gkey kivek arous.] A cricket match was played at Hokitiki on Saturday lust between the Grey and Hokitika Clubs', and resulted in a very easy victory for the Grey men, the scores being : —Greymonth : first innings, 83 ; Hokitika : first innings, 19 ; second innings. 18 ; total, 37. It will therefore be seen that our local players won the match by one innings and 46 runs. Tho day was showery, and the game was interrupted by showers on several occasions. The wicket was very dead, and the scoring was on this account very slow. Had the ground been dry, the scoring would have been nin-h higher on both sides. The Hokiiiki men made a very poor stand against the Grey bowling, which was fir too stniiglu, and 1 eing aided l>y ihe dulnesa of the wicket provi-d very destructive. For the Grey, .\Wiregor played a very careful innings of over an hour, during which time he made 25. Morris played veiy carefully for his 14, most of which were scored in singles. Bishop played a lively innings lor 11, making a very fine drive for 4- of that tiiiuvlx'r. Tbo tickling, of
the Grey men was excellent,,no chances being missed, and returns being very quick. The Grey men were entertained at Keller's Gafe at balf-pasf'-six, and a very pleasant hour was spent, leaving nothing to be desired by the Grey men on the score of hospitality.
