The many frterids of Mr Thomas F: Costello will no doubt peftlse* with interest, though ddubfciess at the same with regret, some particulars regarding the last sad few days of his life and untimely end, which are recorded in the Wildannia Tiities of Thursday, December 8, as follows: Mr Walterus Brown, J.P., district c-'ironer, held a magisterial inquiry as jt » the cause of the death of a man of tile name of Thoma 3 Costello. According to the evidence of Mr Cambridge, Go* vernment Superintendent of Roads, he" saw deceased on the diggings, Tibooburra, about the middle of last week: He then told Mr Cambridge he intended to come in to the Wilcannia hospital: He was suffering from fever and dysenw tery, and very weak. Mr Cambridge' told him he did not think be was strong enough to undertake the journey. He, however, took his passage by Cobb and Co.'s coach on the 3rd inst. f by which opportunity Mr Cambridge also came' on. That gentleman looked carefully after his wants on the road and tried to* persuade him to remain at Maxwell's and come on by the following coach, which he objected to do. When the' coach left Anders's the fever had left him and he seeme'd a little' better. AG Bvet'wood Mr Cambridge beat up an egg iu a spoonful of braudy and gave' it to him. He then commenced to gasp, accompanied with rattling in the' throat. Half an four after leaviug Beef wood tlie passenger inside the" coach called to the driver to stop the' coach as Costello was dead. The body* was driven 5 oft for-" Dry Lake and left in; charge of Mr G. T. Snriih", tire landlord 5 of the hotel.- Mr Cambridge thinks deceased had a!n account at' the Commercial Bank", Tiboomrrra. Nothing is known of him in this quarter, butt the" papers and other articles foifad on the' body are' sufficient for idenfrfication; He was in Greymoutb, New Zealand; in July of the present as shown! by an order given to him by Kennedy Bros, of that place,- for a passage in the* St. Kilda to Melbourne. A receipt fo* a pair of dancing clogs bought of John? Couttie, Elizabeth street,- Melbourne; dated 29th July 1881, was found upon him. A Forrester's subscription" book showed that be "had paid 18s to the' lodge at Kumara, New Zealand, on the' 7th of July, 1881, the name of the secretary being G. Anderson,- The' property on his person was a silver/ watch and chain, four £1 notes, two" sovereigns, and 5s 6d in silver, also a few trifles of small value.
