PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT; Under the distinguished patronage of his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General fo» Italy, at Melbourne, upon instruct tions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicne often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious; but as the qualities of both of the pro* ducts are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect - upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptberia, croup, sprains, &c,, the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications - in this paper, an application of the oil instead of our extract must impair • the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous •*’ product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight. Our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the guru leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being. twenty-fonr shillings for one pound, weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up halfounce and one ounce vials; vials bear- * ing on the labels our trade mark and signature.
