THE CHAMPION CHALLENGE CUP FOOT RACE.

The inquiry into the protest of Hugh Adamson, one of the competitors in the Champion Challenge Cup Race, against O'Loughlan being declared the winner of the 300 yards' event, and consequently the winner of the Cup, through Adamson being held back _by the public whilst O'Loiighlan went by, occupied the committee several hours yesterday, and resulted in the race being awarded to Adamson., As the two men have tied each in regard to position iri the several events, they were ordered to run off a final race at 300 yards at two o'clock this afternoon. The two men having tossed for places, O'Loughlan won, choosing the inside position. A good start was effected, very Blightly in. O'Loughlan's favor. When the competitors had. reached 120 yards, the ground being slippery, O'Loughlan fell, whereby Adamson gained abou seven yards ; but O'Loughlan quickly regained his feet, passed Adamson about 40 yards from the tape, and came in an easy winner.
